Vancouver Fraser Port Authority - Enhancing cetacean habitat and observation (ECHO) program
Project overview
The ECHO Program, led by the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority, aims to reduce commercial shipping's impact on at-risk whales off British Columbia. By partnering with over 100 groups, it has reduced underwater noise by up to 50% and promotes quieter ship designs and practices, benefiting endangered southern resident killer whales.
