Building enduring power for climate action and system change

HACC works to close the gap between climate ambition and implementation by equipping the people and institutions responsible for delivering change.

Our focus

We focus on critical nexus points where energy, infrastructure, transportation, and logistics converge, and where aligned action can accelerate progress across interconnected systems.

Our flagship initiative focuses on maritime ports, where these dynamics can advance decarbonization, resilience, economic competitiveness, and community benefit.

HACC’s model is designed to extend to other critical nexus points, including airports, freight hubs, industrial clusters, and other infrastructure sectors where coordinated action is needed to move climate solutions from ambition to implementation.

Our approach

HACC advances climate action through three reinforcing pillars: research, education, and capacity building.

Together, these pillars help us identify and break down implementation barriers, translate expertise into practical solutions, and equip the people and institutions responsible for delivering change.

Research

We combine practitioner insight, technical expertise, and applied research to identify the barriers standing between climate ambition and implementation and surface practical pathways forward.

Education

We turn research, technical knowledge, and lessons from the field into accessible tools, resources, and shared learning that practitioners can put to work.

Capacity building

We connect practitioners with peers and specialized expertise across policy, finance, workforce, technology, and innovation, strengthening the relationships and institutional capacity needed to advance projects and scale climate solutions.

Our initiatives

Connect

Strategic connections

Connecting practitioners with the people, expertise, and opportunities that can help move solutions forward.

Convene

Convenings & peer learning

Creating trusted spaces to exchange knowledge, build relationships, and tackle shared challenges.

Equip

Tools & resources

Turning research, expertise, and practitioner experience into practical resources for implementation.

Mobilize

Collaborative action

Bringing stakeholders and enabling resources together to break down barriers and advance solutions.

Guiding principles

01

Think systemically

Look across interconnected systems to identify leverage points for broader change.

02

Build with practitioners

Develop our work with the people closest to implementation so it reflects real-world needs.

03

Design for scale

Build practical solutions that can move into action, generate shared learning, and travel.

How this model unlocks systems change

Implementation

Helping practitioners move climate solutions from ambition and planning toward deployment.

Replication and scale

Turning lessons from leading projects into practical knowledge that can travel across organizations and geographies.

Shared capacity

Building stronger relationships, knowledge, and institutional capacity across fragmented climate ecosystems.

Equitable outcomes

Connecting climate and infrastructure investment with workforce opportunity, community benefit, public health, and resilience.
