Shellfish nursery
Project overview
San Diego Bay Aquaculture is using a FLUPSY (Floating Upweller System) to test a floating barge as a shellfish nursery and evaluate shellfish aquaculture's feasibility in San Diego Bay versus Northern California. The system circulates water through compartments to cultivate shellfish from seed to juvenile before transport to farms for market readiness, supporting year-round operations and addressing seed shortages.
